Today we traveled to Mariupol on mission business.
It is an industrial city with a population of 480,000, located on the Sea of Azov.
The major industry here is steel manufacture.
The trip by car took 2 1/2 hours each way. It was interesting to see the countryside.
The sandwich was very good. President Villikanov of the Makeevka Branch was our driver, guide and interpretor. He gave our order in Russian. The proprietor of the stand saw our name tags and asked to speak with us. He was open and friendly, and he spoke very good English. "I would like to visit with you," he said. I have met your brothers in the church. They gave me some booklets to read and I have questions about them. When can we talk?"

What an amazing place - but still very cold (I'm only tempted to go there to see you - I've been frozen here with our weather of no snow and 60 some odd degree temps)
ReplyDeleteThat must be an exciting missionary moment to have a stranger come up to you and ask you for answers instead of needing to prod and poke for questions. Even if the queries are a bit controversial, the Holy Ghost already did the prodding. That's leading to a golden one!!
Do tell us the name of that renowned eating place so that Kyle can get a chicken burrito when we go there. He sure does LOVE burritos!
Cold! Didn't you notice that the snow has melted and that I did not wear my big, furry boots? You are correct, though. It is not yet warm, though I am told that it will get that way.
ReplyDeleteI want to hear what happened next!
ReplyDeleteAnd Nana, are you sure our letters to you have to be written on onion paper?
