Each day a different zone would come to paint. Most of the paint ended up where it was supposed to but in the process, we learned that the missionaries who do the most work are not the ones who get the most paint on themselves, and that all missionaries are not created equal. The city government is very pleased with this "missionary work" and we desperately need more acceptance by the government. Our work was not in vain. In a few days we will dump a few trucks of sand around the "slide man" and scatter it around. The whole park was huge. It is not easy to grasp the size of this gigantic slide until you are beneath it looking up.

WOW! It looks better then new. How pretty. I wish we could have flown over and helped you.
ReplyDeleteAmazing what a coat of paint can do. good work.
ReplyDeleteGood supervision.
ReplyDeleteTHAT is all beautiful WORK!
What would make the next good, goodwill work?
I just noticed also he has new colors. I like them. Favorite missionary memory: the comments of my mission president, made to me while working on a service project like this. It was one of the only chances I had to work as hard as I wanted and give my whole heart, and have it show, no impediment of circumstance or responsibility.
ReplyDeletePerhaps some felt a bit like that, there.
Hyrum has been quiet all this time on my lap except for inserting a comment about these pictures. "Yo quiero subir alli." "I want to get up there." Silence, stare, stare, blink, blink, stare, stare. Oh, he is waiting for my response! So, how to explain the distance?
ReplyDeleteAmazing WORK! Gives some motivation for this Saturday at the Laton Park.
I love how there's the pic of Mom by the unpainted slide-legs to show contrast! The way those missionaries are sound a lot like the youth I was with when we did service projects . . . I guess they figure that you can't make good memories if you work hard and do it right . . . funny - but not true
ReplyDeleteElisabeth would know the wonders that paint can do - I'm more specialized in the paint on my toes . . . it is amazing though, what a coat of paint can do there too!
