The bus pulled up in front of the church to be loaded with sleeping bags, tents, cooking gear and grub boxes. Last of all the baby was unstrapped from the carrier and branch members were loaded.
An hour or so into our journey we found a perfect place for a rest stop.
So--it's a cool memorial of some astounding military victory in Ukraine over 800 years ago...
and the view was amazing.

and enjoy the wildlife.
Recreational options included volleyball, dodgeball, keep away. hiking, yoga, a compass course, and "lasso-Elder-Hatch".
Because a few of us including the mama with the baby and Elder Hatch and I only participated in the day-camp part of the activities we did not have the luxury of riding out in the rented bus, but we walked from our selected camping area to the auftovaxal (bus station) in the closest town.
We had enjoyed a wonderful day, but it was great when were finally back home!

who'd have thought you would go camping- even day camping? I hope the nearest town wasn't too far away.
ReplyDeleteLooks like it was a suspenders day.
ReplyDeleteSuspenders=Grandpa Hatch.
ReplyDeleteAnd this was a pretty, cryptic entry. Huh? And I like the pic of you walking down the street of a 'rural' looking spot. Everything has been so very grey-and-black-leather-urban up to now! Are those lillies of the valley wild? Mother's Day today.
I had primary teachers getting subs so they could rush home to wait for their missionary son calls...thinking of my missionary mom today.
xoxo
I remember when we started school and suspenders!! I assume that you do also Elder H. We just talked with Mom and she has been busy today. Getting ready for Memorial Day and reorganizing after Mothers Day. It was 7:30 pm Mtn time and Mom was in bed. She said she had talked with you two on Mothers Day but she was mixing things up. Enjoying the blog as usual. We pray that all is going well for our missionaries. We love you and yours! S & N
ReplyDeleteWas this the hike that killed your feet? Did all those people fit in one little van? That is reminiscent of a clown car. k
ReplyDeleteyes, that "bus" looks rather small! funny seeing mom in jeans when in every other picture on this blog she is in a skirt/dress! What a nice looking monument hill - a beautiful view! I haven't been camping for ages, I don't even remember - oh wait, When I was pregnant with little V and Kyle and I slept in the tent with no mattress - we were haunted by all the coyotes out there! That camp ground looks very beautiful! the flora and fauna! Those lizards look very nice in that color of hair!! I do like the flowers! the little bells . . . Dad, did you teach them how to lasso? you two are such fun grandparents!!
